VON Days

Is it possible to take a quick snapshot of our practice that allows us to understand both our own practice and benchmark against practices worldwide? We think so.

The Vermont Oxford Network has done a great deal of work with longitudinal studies (following trends throughout the Network over time) and interventional trials. In addition, we have conducted a variety of quality improvement projects. VON Days are an attempt to do cross-sectional studies that will allow us to better understand our practices. One of the problems is how to look at details of practice that will not require the burden of collecting these details over long periods of time and will yield interpretable and actionable results. VON Days will pick a highly focused topic regarding our practice and, on one day during the year, collect detailed data regarding this process. We hope to conduct several of these each year. These data collections will be linked to other quality improvement activities, including web seminars and workshops at the annual meeting.

Our first efforts will include a careful examination of policies and procedures regarding saturation monitoring and oxygen targeting. Please check the link for more information.
