iNICQ Encephalopathy Collaborative (2006)

Beginning January 10, 2006, Vermont Oxford Network will host an iNICQ Internet collaborative on the topic of neonatal encephalopathy. This will be the fifth in a series of Internet collaboratives that have addressed a variety of topics aimed at improving the quality and safety of medical care for newborn infants and their families. The collaborative will be coordinated with the Network's Registry for Neonatal Encephalopathy. The cost for non-registry participants is $3250. For those centers participating in the Registry there is no charge.

The Goals of this collaborative are:

  1. Improve the quality and safety of medical care for newborn infants with neonatal encephalopathy and their families
  2. Assist multidisciplinary NICU teams in translating available evidence into their clinical practice
  3. Provide state of the art reviews on topics of relevance to neonatal encephalopathy
  4. Provide a forum for teams from around the world to share their ideas under the guidance of an expert faculty
  5. Support the Network's Registry for Neonatal Encephalopathy

There will be five 90 minute Webex sessions with expert faculty. These will have audio via a conference call line and slides viewed over the Internet. The sessions are structured to facilitate local team improvement work. Each session will have pre-work assignments given prior to the conference along with an extended question and answer period and a 30 minute team work time following the conference.

Collaborative members have access to a dedicated e-mail discussion list and case studies will be presented at the 2006 Quality Congress. Continuing Education credits are available to all attendees.
