Electronic Data Submission

Vermont Oxford Network members are encouraged to submit data electronically using our eNICQ software, which is provided to members as part of their membership fee. You may also submit electronic data from another system, as outlined below.

eNICQ Software

eNICQ is provided free to all member centers. Members are encouraged to use eNICQ for electronic data entry and submission as it is the simplest means to ensure the accurate entry and submission of data to the VON Database.

Two versions of the eNICQ software are currently supported:

eNICQ 5, a windows application that uses the .NET framework and a SQL Server database. The software performs extensive error checks on data as it is input, providing immediate feedback to the user. On-screen data definitions make it easy to verify an item’s definition.

eNICQ 4, the earlier Microsoft Access-based product. This version of eNICQ will be retired at the end of 2012 and members will be required to upgrade to eNICQ 5.

It is possible to create an interface between your center’s data collection or EHR software so data items in eNICQ 5 are populated automatically based on entries made in another system. For more information, please see the eNICQ 5 External Data Interface Guide.

Submitting Electronic Data from another System

Data may be submitted to the Vermont Oxford Network in a file created by your center’s data collection or EHR software, or via direct XML streaming over a secure HTTPS connection. Resources For Establishing Your Electronic Data Submission Protocol Are Available Here.
